The CFO Foundation in collaboration with the Chartered Institute of Government Finance, Audit & Risk Officers (CIGFARO), hosts the annual Supply Chain Management (SCM) & Procurement Conference. The focus of the Two-day conference is on Governance and Best Practices for Public Sector Procurement and is aimed at the capacitation of SCM Practitioners & Managers. The conference seeks practical and Innovative solutions for improving SCM practices at public sector organizations.

Public Sector SCM derives its mandate from Section 217 of The Constitution of the Republic of South Africa. It is further directed by Section 76 (4) (c) of the Public Finance Management Act.

SCM Systems must be effective and efficient for the acquisition of goods and services. They must also be fair, equitable, transparent, competitive and cost effective.


Chief among the main objectives of the conference, are the following:

• To review SCM Governance legislation and simplify the legal framework for public procurement
• To formulate strategic procurement solutions and provide constructive perspectives from all relevant stakeholders – SCM practitioners; Executives; Municipal Leadership; SCM Associations.
• To share local and international best practices and experiences on SCM and improve public procurement governance, compliance and accountability
• To showcase and introduce practical SCM solutions available on the market.
