Finance Leaders Summit
The Finance Leaders’ Summit is aiming to strengthen governance through obtaining Clean Audits as well as “Growing Local Economies for All” thus ensuring a sustainable future for South Africa as a whole. Good corporate governance is thus reliant upon the introduction and maintenance of mechanisms to promote that behaviour and performance of management which is in the interests of the stakeholders of the organization.
Finance Leaders in local government are an integral part of Revenue Management where-in this is a key factor affecting service delivery as without income to pay for required goods and services, a municipality can cease to exist. In recent months we have seen municipalities classified as dysfunctional and/or financially distressed due to its inability to pay its creditors and to the extent of being unable to pay its employees.
We as The CFO Foundation see it imperative to work closely with COGTA, SALGA and CIGFARO in order to improve the scope of Corporate Governance in Municipalities, Sound Financial Management as well as Revenue Enhancement.
