Revenue Solutions Summit

The two-day solutions summit that seeks to formulate practical solutions that can be implemented within the financial year, whilst looking at innovative and technologically creative ways of conducting business for the municipalities.

Local Government with its powers of levying tariffs and collecting rates from respective com- munities, it should be possible to ensure that municipalities are financially stable so as to render efficient services. The Summit, as an annual event, discusses the mechanisms, strategies and share concepts of how Municipalities can enhance their current revenue base; collection rates, and also streamline processes in order to reduce cost of business for the municipalities.

Municipalities operate autonomously to provincial & national government with revenue streams derived in the form of grants and internally generated sources.

During budget preparation phase, it is imperative that municipal budgets are balanced i.e. Expenditure must equate to Revenue monetary. Whilst the Budgets are compiled and balanced as required legislatively, municipalities experience a number of challenges in billing customers and the subsequent collection.

KEY OBJECTIVES OF THE SUMMIT
